Guess what...

We found out Thursday we are having a girl! When we decided we wanted to add another child to our family, everyone assumed we were trying for a girl, since we have two boys already. More than anything I just wanted to have another child, but the truth be told I was terrified it would be a girl. I have been so nervous about this ultrasound. I am use to boys, have all boy things and my boys are rough and tumble adding a girl to the mix is a scary thing. However, yesterday Owen had an Awards Ceremony for completing first grade. While talking to his teacher a little girl who was sitting near us had heard our conversation. She looked at me and said, "Girls are fun, and not scary at all, you will be just fine" then she added "except for my big sister". Then I looked around at all the little girls in his class and though  I will be fine! That is why I love kids, they see things so much simpler than we do and untainted. We make things so complicated and stressful, if only we could keep that outlook as we grew older. How much happier the world would be!  We will all find our groove and things will be crazy, but that is okay too!  I am sure she will be able to hold her own against her brothers, but I also see how sweet and caring Owen is to Wyatt and know he will adore her. A friend told Chris, well your days of hunting and fishing are over its tea parties for you now! I thought that was funny! I am starting to get excited about the cute clothes, buying dolls, and making her a quilt. I think I am going to make the quilt using a similar color pallet like the above card. All stamps are PTI, the PP is Memory Box. Daffodil tag

Happy Tuesday! I love short weeks, I hope everyone had a relaxing Memorial Day. I have enjoyed making tags lately instead of the standard cards. This one uses another set from PTI: Year of flowers Daffodil. I love their flower sets, they are designed so pretty and are easy to apply different techniques on them. This one I used paper piecing, the background was stamped with a script in a dark brown and a dot stamp in a lighter brown. Then I stamped the image in black for placement and then stamped again on various colors to make up the flower. The images were cut out and and attached to the tag. I cut the butterfly out of the same pattern paper.

Owen had the best day ever (according to him) last week, when a friend of ours invited him to check out their Swamp Logging operation. Owen love the show Swamp Loggers, and before this he was sure he wanted to be a Landscaper like his Daddy. Then he saw all the awesome equipment they use when they log around this wet NC land and he was hooked! Poor Chris he is no longer Owen's idol, it is Mr. Wes! Owen was on cloud nine when he got home, had me print his pictures so he could show everyone at school. We are so appreciate of our friend for taking the time to have Owen over, he absolutely loved it!

Two wildflower cards

The first card I stamped the straw background in grey ink and then stamped the wildflowers stamp twice with versamark and clear embossed. I distressed using broken china, stormy sky and chipped sapphire and blended until I was happy with the look. The card is matted with Hawaiian shore and a navy, and the sentiment is stamped on the Hawaiian shore.

This card was stamped first with a script in a light brown then the wildflower stamped in the versamark, I distressed using bundled sage and die cut the image. The white paper was run through the die machine using the canvas impression plate (PTI) and the sentiment was stamped in the light brown on the white.

It is super hot today, steamy! We have been spoiled with some unusually cooler temp, but it looks like Summer weather is here for us now! Today Wyatt's coordinator from the CDSA is coming over to close out his file. It has been over a year since we started the entire process, with the evaluations and then starting therapy. At first we had both Physical and Speech Therapy, hard to believe this time last year Wyatt was not even attempting to walk. PT lasted 4-5 months., and last week he was discharged from Speech Therapy. We have been so happy with every person we have met and worked with, they made the process very easy to understand. Wyatt is now right with him peers and even a little past on some things. He caught up fast and doesn't seem to be slowing down! They said that Wyatt is a rare case as most children do not graduate out of the service, so for that I am very grateful. It seems the delays were do to a personality trait, I call it Will!  He did not want to do it, so it took quite a bit of creative thinking to trick him into doing what we knew he could do! So Thank you to everyone who helped my little one, we are so appreciative and thankful!

Distressed Birthday card

I watched one of Stamp Tv's videos that used the technique that I haven't used in awhile. I love my copics so much I hardly ever use any other types of coloring tools. I decided I needed some variation so I pulled out my distressed inks! I stamped a script stamp in a light brown on manilla cardstock. Then I stamped the grass in versamark and embossed in clear. I cut out the images with a spellbinder die then I added scattered straw, dried marigold and finally wild honey until it was blended to my liking. The sentiment is stamped in dark chocolate and blended with the same distressed inks. The background is embossed and finally I added some twine under the sentiment.  Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink May blog hop

This is my first time participating in a blog hop. I love PTI, their products are such high quality and the inspiration they provide is above any company I have ever used. I look forward to the previews the 10-14th of every month! The challenge for this blog hop is to use felt, and I am ashamed to say I have been collecting their felt but this is the first time I have used it on a project. It cuts so nice, no frays I will be using this more! I love that it comes in the yummy PTI colors too! The background was stamped with Polka dot background set in Hawaiian Shore.I then ran it through with the new texture plate, which I love!  I cut the mat stack die 2 in the same color felt and then cut a scallop circle in spring moss. The circle image is from the anniversary set stamped in the same ink and cut out and attached. The sentiment is from the same set as well. Magenta flower trio

I love Magenta rubber stamps, their images are so beautiful and perfect for coloring. I made this card to send some picture of the boys to my Mother-in-law. It was stamped in black, and colored with copics, the sentiment is from PTI as well as all of the cardstock.

It is a rainy day here, we had really good thunderstorms last night, which means all the inside animals were trying to get into bed with us. My cat practically smothers you because he is so scared of thunder. I think  the other two (dogs) are just jealous that Ozzie get to be in our bed and try their best to be too! This is Owen's last full week of school, I am looking forward to summer vacation, days at the beach, trip to the park not having to pick him up at school everyday and maybe Wyatt getting back to a better nap schedule at least for the summer! Flower tag and Zentangles

I received my stamps from PTI yesterday and had a chance to make a quick tag. I stamped a script background in Memento Pear Tart, then stamped the flower in black, it is colored with copics YG93 & 95, they do not blend well on the manilla tag but I had already committed to the color. The bells are colored with a whit gel pen. The butterfly was stamped once on the tag and once on white then colored with copics R21, and 23. The sentiment is from Hero Arts stamped in black.

I wanted to share something else I made this weekend it is called a Zentangle, you can learn more about it here:  http://zentangle.com/index.php  Basically it is a doodle that you make using various patterns, there are tons of sites dedicated to this doodle art. Patterns are endless and they are fun and relaxing to make. The other good thing is it is a very inexpensive hobby. The only supplies you need it decent paper, a good pen and some free time. If you google zentangle you will be able to see some amazing works of art, some are colored but most are in black in white with shading.  The one I did is called a Mandela and I am excited to make another.
