Thinking of you

March 2012 013

Floral Stamp is from Penny Black, can’t remember who make the sentiment I have had that one forever. Stamped and watercolored with distressed markers.

This card is for the CAS-ual friday  challenge and Simon says challenge blog.

On the home front DH has been super busy preparing for the Parade of Homes which means lots of late nights. So on Saturday we decided to take the day and go to Myrtle Beach with the kids for the day. We live relatively close so it’s nice to be able go down when we want. We usually stay far away during the summer except when we have family vacationing there.  Saturday we went to Bass Pro and the Outlets and had a great day. All the kids were very good, Pixie is at a hard age wanting to just go, but so little that it’s dangerous for her. After being in the car for awhile I let her go in Bass Pro and I was sweating after chasing her around the store.  She is super fast,  but she did stop quite a bit to enjoy the fish in the big tank. I finally found her shoes that fit, and I had to stop myself from buying too many. For some reason we have a very sad selection of shoes here around Wilmington for baby feet. She is tiny, and needed a 4 to 4 1/2,  all the shoes I found had little or no traction in that size. They have a stride-rite in Myrtle and they had sooo many shoes.  All the kids got fitted and new sneakers and life was good! Have a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by.

Window card

April 2012 021

Stamps: Flower- Hero arts, dragonfly die cut is from Memory box. All images colored with copics

This card is for two challenges, the window card challenge from A blog named Hero, and  Cas-ual fridays sketch challenge.  A pretty straight forward design, I love the dragonfly die cut, I was hoping to use glitter which I know I have somewhere! However it seemed to have went into hiding, surely I will find it when I am not looking for it. Isn’t that how it always goes.

We have new baby chicks 9 total: 4 buff orpingtons, 2 barred rocks, 2 americaunas  and 1 rhode island red. The kids and I really wanted a duck, but DH is opposed to ducks so we just came home with the chicks.  They are all doing well, even though it has turned quite chilly here again.  We keep them up in the shed with heat lights and all, but I am always afraid they are still cold. With baby chicks though seems to cause the snakes to come around more. Saturday Pixie and I had just walked past the shed and turned back around to help DH with the trash for the dump when our two dogs started barking next to us. I looked down and saw what they were barking at. I screamed, grabbed Pixie and headed up toward the house. They found a copperhead heading for the shed, most likely smelling the baby chicks.  He was a big snake, not to mention a bad one.  DH got the shotgun and got rid of it, thankfully neither dog got bit, even though it did strike at them a few times. I am so grateful for my dogs, it could have easily gotten Pixie or I if they had not seen it. We usually find one copperhead a year, but this one was a little too close to me.

Watercolor Columbine

March 2012 013

Card: Stamp from Memory box, colored with distressed markers using the watercolor technique. Background is from Penny black.

So much to do and just not enough time! Although today I hope to have a completely productive day. So far I have planted some vegetable plants, washed the dog, loaded the car with stuff to drop off at Goodwill and made lunch. Later we are off to drop our stuff off, and pick up some fresh veggies from our first Co-op experience. Not real sure what to do with the stuff I am getting. I hadn’t thought about the early crops was just thinking about squash, tomatoes and summer veggies. This basket has kale, spring onions, carrots and a few other things. I have no idea what to do with kale, so this should be interesting!  Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day!

Birthday wishes

March 2012 010

I love this floral stamp from Penny Black, very whimsical and pretty.  I have been enjoying the beautiful weather lately, preparing my gardens for new  plants and flowers. We had a fun spring break, the boys spent most of it with their Grandparents who recently bought a second home here. Owen was in heaven as it’s right on the river and he can fish all day long. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Thank you for stopping by.
