Floral birthday

Last week I didn't have much time to work on stuff, and when I did I just haven't felt up to it.  I spent some time cleaning my office to make a play area for the kids in hopes to get more time to work! Last week was tough, Chris's Grandfather passed away, while we were aware that it was going to be happening, it still is very hard. He made the trip up to MD over the weekend, and I really wish I was able to go with him. He was a wonderful man, Chris was very close to him growing up.  When things happen like that it makes you really appreciate those around you, daily things keep you so busy, but really what is important is telling those you love how much they mean to you. So this weekend I cuddled my babies more and try to hold on to those moments. Wishing you a wonderful week with those you love.
Wishing everyone peace like this!

Second time around

Some time ago I made this card using the posie set, and I love how it turned out. However I wanted to do something with my copic markers to I created this one:

I stamped the floral image on the new paper from copic, if you have not tried it you must it is awesome. The background image was stamped with PTI ink then I cut out the flowers and attached to the image. The butterflies were stamped and colored and the main butterfly was stamped on the copic paper colored and cut out. It has been a great week, I have so enjoyed seeing what Jill Foster has created this week. It was so fun seeing her cards that were inspired by mine! Thank you Jill for such a fun week! We have in-laws coming in town for Owen's continued Birthday celebration! Lucky kid, he has already had two parties and cakes! Have a great weekend!

For being you

I am so loving these stamps, there are so many possibilities! I am almost done with another card to post tomorrow. This one I stamped on memory box PP, they have the most beautiful patterns I find even though I buy tons of PP, basic grey, and many other names. I end up using the memory box so much more. After stamping I cut the pieces out to attach to the main image. I ended up inking the stem and leaf paper with shabby shutter to create more of the color I was looking for. The sentiment is from PTI, and the border punch is from martha stewart.
Yesterday my sweet baby turned 8 years old! It feels like just yesterday we brought this little baby home, amazed that the hospital let us leave with such a thing! We had no idea what to do with a baby, we thought we were prepared! Now a family of 5, he is the oldest and the best big brother to Wyatt and Lainey! He has always been a quick witted, smart, funny child definitely beyond his years, an old soul. Owen is the sweetest child, and very caring about other's feelings, I know as he grows older things will change but I hope he keeps his good heart. He loves to fish and golf with his best buddy, his Daddy and although I admit to being jealous of their relationship at times it is something to see a child love his Daddy like that. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband that is the best father to our children.

Posie Thank you

There is no denying I love my copics, and the BG colors are one of my favorites, so much that I need to order refills now. I stamped the image in black ink on a white panel, using the stamp positioner to make sure I had them placed where I wanted. Then I colored the images with BG 10, 11, 13 & 15, Y06 for the center and YG93 and 95 for the leaves. The sentiment is from PTI big bold wishes, love the sizes of theses. On the new release for PTI this month they are starting a new series of larger fonts 3 for $5. I had to order them and try, since there are many times I wish I had something to fit the space better. Tomorrow we are preparing for my Owen's 8th birthday! I cannot believe it has been 8 years, and tomorrow will be a post for him! Have a great day!

Peeking Posies

Before I start, I have exciting news, I am being featured on the Inspired by  blog by the super talented Jill Foster. I am so excited to see what she creates this week!  Her work is gorgeous and her concept for her blog is so clever! Be sure to stop by and check her blog out!

This week I chose the Peeking Posies stamp set to focus on, I remember when this first came out in the hero arts catalog in 2006, I had to have it! I love flower stamps and love to color, I am so glad they are bringing it out of retirement for another go! It will be fun to see what everyone creates with this set. On this card I stamped and embossed in white on white paper. Then I used distressed inks to watercolor the image, I used spiced marmalade, wild honey and scattered straw for the flowers and shabby shutter for the leaves. Then I cut out the images and attached them to a green panel that was impressed with a plate from PTI. The sentiment and die are from PTI also.  I will have more cards this week using this set, so check back. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Friend card

So excited it is Friday! This weekend we are taking the kids to spend the night in Myrtle Beach with some friends to celebrate Owen's 8th Birthday. His birthday falls right smack in the middle of the week, so this weekend we are celebrating with friends and next weekend my in-laws are coming to celebrate again! Lucky little boy! He and his Daddy started fishing last summer so for his present he is getting to have a little shopping spree at Bass Pro Shops! He is so excited!

The card is made by embossing in versamark with white powder, colored with copics then embossing the image again with the versamark pen to make the image resist the distressed ink background. I used shabby shutter, then die cut a small oval and stamped the sentiment the same way. I embossed the white background and attached a die cut lacy circle. Thank you for all the sweet comments, I am so glad to be able to crafts some again! Have a wonderful weekend!

PTI- Make it monday

PTI is starting a weekly challenged based on a new video each Monday. I love PTI, so this will help me get motivated to use my ever growing stash!  Every month I am so inspired by all of the projects they come up with. I really enjoyed this one, all of the different sentiments create a very neat card. I will be sure to use this idea again in my designs!

Masked butterfly flowers

Last year I took a class in Raleigh by the lovely Michelle Zindorf, beginning and advanced brayering. In that class she showed us also how to mask with clear embossing powder. I love the technique and had forgotten about it until I started working with the butterfly flower stamp. The first thing I did was stamp the image in each corner with versamark on manilla paper. I embossed in clear and then used my copics to color the image in. After coloring I used my versamark pen and colored over my copic coloring and embossed in clear again. Then I stamped the large script stamp in shabby shutter over the image and distressed it with the same color over top. The butterfly and dragonfly were stamped in black again and cut out and colored with copics.

I have another card to post on Friday, hope everyone is having a great day!

Butterfly Flowers

This week I am going to use the Butterfly Flowers from Hero Arts. On the card today I stamped in black Memento, then stamped the diagonal directional in grey ink. The image was colored with various copics and then die cut with a spellbinder die. The background mat was embossed and then attached to the main mat. The circle border is from PTI as is the sentiment and the die cut. Check back Wed. for another card made with this stamp. Have a great Monday!

Favorite PTI card

PTI is having their anniversary celebrations here,  and with that comes an awesome chance to win a huge prize package! You can enter two ways, one by leaving a comment and another entry by posting your favorite card from the year. I love this set, so many possibilities to color the rose and I think it makes a beautiful wedding card! We have had rain here all day yesterday and so far the most of today! I am ready to see the sunshine! Hope everyone has a safe Superbowl tomorrow!

Basic grey flowers

This is my favorite card from this weeks selected stamp. I really enjoyed working with one main stamp image. It allowed me to stay focused on one thing and all week I thought of new ways to create cards. This one was stamped with memento, and then stamped again on various basic grey pattern papers. The background is colored with distressed ink in broken glass. Then I selected colors I wanted and attached to the main image. The buttons are from PTI, and stickles were used on the flowers. I am hoping to have another stamp to spotlight next week. Although right now my oldest is home sick, so I am busy trying to keep him from contaminating everyone else! LOL! Have a great weekend!

Lyra aquacolor crayons

Years ago I was introduced to these crayons by our local stamp store. They create vivid colors and blend together so pretty. They are very water soluble thought, and after I colored I thought it would be nice to add some shimmer with glimmer mist. While it did add some shimmer it toned down my colors and made them run into one another a little more than I had intended. Although I think it adds a neat effect, and given more time I may have increased the intensity some. I still have one more version to share tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Copic text flowers

On this card I stamped in memento, and colored the image with copics. I used YG93,95 & 97 on the leaves and BV01,02 &04 for the purple and B02 and 04 for the blues. The edge of the card is cut using one of the new edger dies from PTI, I had not had a chance to play with it yet and really like it. I will have another version of this stamp Friday, and if I have time I may get another one done. I really like concentrating on one particular stamp, it gives me more focus. So I don't get overwhelmed by all my other stamps! Did you see the sneak peek of the new Hero Arts stamps? I haven't heard when they will be available, but I have already added to my wish list! Love seeing all the new stuff from CHA, and am especially interested in the new pencils and gelatos form Faber Castell. Will now be on the hunt for somewhere to get them when they are available.  The new Tim Holtz distressed stains look amazing too, as do the new spellbinders dies. Confession though I have already pre-ordered some of the new dies, although I never do have great luck with that I still gave it a try. What are your favorite things you have seen from CHA this year?
