Blue butterflies

Just a quick post for today, we have some work to do in our garden! I stamped and embossed the Floral Brocade cling in white ink on pattern paper from memory box. Then I stamped the butterflies on the same PP and cut out. The scallop border is a background set from PTI botantical background basics stamped in white and punched with a MS punch. The sentiment is from hero arts, and cut out using spellbinders label dies.  Hope you have a great weekend.

Pink Hydrangea

This is a simple card that was stamped and colored with copics, I finally ordered this stamp as I always use it when I visit my friend Debbie. It was just my luck to since the place I order from Stampin Treasures had a one day sale 24% off! I ordered a few others I wanted a some more of their chalk inks.

We are having a beautiful week here, nice weather and lots of sunshine, which means the boys and I are outside a lot! Soon it will be to hot to enjoy being outside so we plan on soaking up the nice weather while we can!

Butterfly on fern

I stamped the fern with certain celery (stampin up ink), the butterfly was stamped twice once on the fern and then again on white paper and cut out. I colored it with copics and attached to the fern panel. The green paper was embossed with the scor-it to create the lines, and the sentiment is from PTI.

We had a good weekend, Owen had 3 really good soccer games, despite an injury Friday night during a scrimage. He over-extended something in his ankle when he went to kick the ball, but thankfully no swelling and he was ready to play the next day. He scored 1 goal and was even put in the goal for the U-10's the older group he plays with. I wasn't too worried at first because the ball had hardly been down at our goal all day, but of course as soon as he gets in there here it comes. I was so excited when he actually blocked the ball to keep them from getting a goal! I think everyone was shocked at how good he did. He has come such a long way, and already says he would like to play fall soccer.  These are not the greatest pictures, he is moving all the time! Hope you have a great Monday!

Mother's Day Card & Rain!

We were forcasted for rain last night into this morning. While you could see the clouds moving in,  I woke up to still no rain! But just as Wyatt & I walked out the door this a.m., it started! I ran in and got our rain coats and now we have a really nice rain coming down. My garden will be soooo happy!

The card for today is a simple Mother's Day card for Hero Arts challenge this month. I stamped the new flower plate in Hawaaian Shore, die cut it with the deckled rectanges and attached it to white embossed paper. The sentiment (PTI) was stamped and die cut with the deckled ovals the edges were colored with the same ink. The butterflies from the Antique Engraving set were stamped with brown ink and cut out. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Beautiful weeds

I made myself make a different color combo, even though I still have a few of the colors from the past few days to show soon. I used the new cling from Hero Arts,  stamped it in Memento black, and sponged on distressed ink in bundled sage and milled lavender. The buttefly was sponged with the milled lavender and highlighted with copics then cut out.

I am so bummed, we discovered yesterday that Starlings have displaced our Purple Martins in their house! We have tried so hard to keep our Martins safe, every year something ends up happening. One year two snakes climbed up into the house and ate almost all the babies. We were able to save one nest and we fed them for a day then returned them to the nest. We watched closely and believe it or not the martins returned to care for them. They would not sleep in the house and we were so happy to see those babies take flight. As soon as they were able to thought, they all left. We believe the same thing happend the year before that, but we just did not catch it. Last year we put special snake gaurds and dilegently checked the house, but still they left late in the summer. We were so excited to see them come back this year and 3 had started making the house thiers, until the Starlings moved in!  Now they are no where to be seen, and we are going to have to evict the current guest! I never realized how difficult it is for these poor birds, I am hoping they will come back, but think we will have to wait until next year! So much for the expensive Starling proof house we bought!

Hawaaian Shore meet Spring Rain

I couldn't stop using the Hawaaian Shore colors, but decided to add in some Spring Moss to change it up a bit! All stamps are Hero Arts, the flower is from the clear set real flowers, such pretty images! I stamped a script stamp in Memento London Fog than stamped the stem with the spring moss and the flower top with the Hawaaian Shore. The background was embossed and the Hello comes from "Just saying Hello".

Wyatt and I are off to visit the nursery today and pick up some more plants for our veggie garden. Chris came home yesterday and set me up with a sprinkler so I can stop lugging those heavy buckets to water the gardens! Chris has a lot of work going on this week, so it is sure to be hectic! The weather looks good though, possible rain Wed., so that is a good thing! Have a great Monday!

Hummingbird panel

I am loving this new color from PTI Hawaaian Shore, it is so pretty! I stamped the new Hero Arts floral panel in the Hawaaian Shore then stamped a Hummingbird from the Antique Engraving set. I matted it on chocolate cardstock, then embossed a piece of the Hawaaian Shore with the cuttlebug. The sentiment is stamped with a flourish stamp with the second impression of the color, and the sentiment stamped over it. I am going to make a set of these cards into notecards with a few different sentiments as gifts.

Owen had a great game day Sat., he played 3 games scored 1 goal and had 6 blocks, (he usually plays defense). I was very proud of him playing so hard, Wyatt did really good too for being there for almost 4 hours. The first two games he was in the field more times than not, so I was pretty tired from chasing him, he sure is fast! At the last game another Mom brought bubbles so that was entertainment for him quite awhile! Today looks like another pretty day, have to water since sadly still no rain! Our grass is turning brown and it is so dusty! Hoping to get the rest of my herb gardens planted today and maybe some time working in my craft room!

Floral panel card

We have had a wicked virus going through our house since Sat., and it has slowly claimed everyone of us! I think we are finally through with it, but I haven't had much time to do anything! I tried to set the boys up fingerpainting on the picnic table while I worked on my card. I say tried because the paint caused distress to my youngest who was freaked when it would not get off his hands! So after washing his hands and trying to quickly finish my card I can't say that I am totally into it. I love the panels which are a new cling from Hero Arts. I stamped them with PTI's new Hawaiian Shore two times and cut them out and matted on PTI matching cardstock, then again on brown. The butterfly was stamped over the new scroll cling stamp in the same ink and cut out, I also used a flower from the same stamp cut it out and colored with some light yellow copics. The mothers day is from PTI.  I want to rework it some when I have some more time.

The boys and I are solo till Sunday as my DH has went to the Mountains of Galax to Turkey Hunt. Owen and I always get snacks and watch movies on the weekends when he is gone so I am looking forward to some junk food and some fun kids movies. On another note I finally got my car back from the autobody after the deer hit it. They did a incredible job, it looks better than new and I am so happy to have it back. Although it took me a few minutes to remember I was driving a stick shift again! We are going outside to do a rain dance in a few, it is so dry here and my poor veggie gardens are not looking so hot! I have been dragging buckets of water back there, but they need mother natures rain! Have a great weekend!

Bird in a circle

I ordered this bird in a circle from the new  Hero Arts: Artist Proof supplement (Spring 2010). As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I stamped it in Memento Black ink, colored the image with copics, Y00, Y02 & Y04, the stems are YG03 & YG05 and the bird is E25, E37 &; E29. The circle is colored with T4. The images was masked and the inside colored with BG10 and the sponged with distressed bundled sage. The script was also sponged with the same distressed ink. I stamped the image again to cut out the flowers since they got a bit muted after using the distressed inks. They were cut and colored then attached. Then I cut it out with my favorite nestie shape then added eyelets (have't used these in forever). The sentiment is from PTI, sadly my only Happy Mother's Day stamp, so you will be seeing this more I am sure. I am looking forward to creating more cards with this stamp, I have lots of ideas.

We have a busy week, hopefully my car will finally be done after the poor deer hit it! I miss my car, but am just getting use to the minivan (gasp!) I was so against a minivan, but now I love the sliding doors and not having to bend over and get the kids in and out of the car seat. My back really appreciates that part! My DH will be leaving for the Mountains, so it will just be the boys and I  for 4 days.  Owen has 4 soccer games so I will be playing defense keeping Wyatt off the field! He so wants to do everything his big brother does! Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!

Poppy found!

I saw this stamp a few weeks ago at Michaels, didn't think much of it, and passed it by. Then I saw that it was a "rare stamp" that is a Michael's exclusive until the summer suppliment for Hero Arts comes out! Well then I had to find it! Luckily I stopped in at Michaels and there was one left, so now it is mine! I stamped it in Memento black ink, and colored with copics. Then I blended shabby shutter distressed ink over the images. I did the same to the saying plate on the bottom. The ribbon and paper are all from PTI.

Things have been busy here, work is in full Spring season mode so we see less of my DH, but are very thankful that we have work again! Owen is the "Iron Man" in soccer, he played 4 games today, and did great! We are so proud of him putting in such effort!  Wyatt is busy telling us about everything, he is so darn cute, and his big brother adores him! I love seeing the two of them interact, don't get me wrong we have plenty of screaming and tears, but they both love each other so much it is something to see.

Owen the hippo

As soon as I saw this stamp from Hero Arts I though to Owen and Maizee the hippo and the turtle that became friends. The story was in the news, then later they wrote two childrens books that documented their friendship. My oldest son's name is Owen so I had to get him the books to read to him. I think I need to go through my collection of stamps and see if I have any turtles that would complete the scene. This card is a quick birthday card for someone. The image is colored with copics, the grass hills is from a cute whimisical set from PTI and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I am looking forward to a beautiful Easter weekend with my boys, tonight we get to dye the dozens of eggs I have been collecting from our hens. My fridge is so full of eggs, we love using the Bantam Cochin's to dye the eggs. They lay eggs half the size of the eggs you get at the store, and in a very light tan color. We discovered by accident that they create the most beautiful muted colored eggs.  On Saturday we are taking the boys to a egg hunt downtown, then Sunday the Easter Bunny leaves oodles of eggs around our property for the boys to find. This will be the first year for Wyatt, so I am looking forward to seeing them both on the hunt! Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

Spring Daffodills

I embossed the daffodill stamp from Hero Arts with white ink and superfine powder then used my distressed inks to color the flowers and the stems in scatted straw, wild honey and bundled sage for the stems. I cut the image out and attached to green circle piece then to a die cut embossed with script in yellow. The Punch is MS and the sentiment is from PTI

Planting day is quickly approaching, I still have to prep herb gardens that I keep close to the house. Hoping I can enlist my DH and Owen to help with this Saturday. All of the herbs Owen and I picked out at the festival are doing very well. They are living on my covered office porch, where they get sun but are out of the wind. Owen was such a great help, pulling my wagon and helping pick what we needed. We found some interesting things like Vanilla Grass, and a ginger flavored geranium among many other things! Our big gardens are tilled and ready for seeds, another project I hope we can do this weekend.
